A growing civil engineering and land development firm is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Civil Engineering Technician to support the planning, design, and development of civil engineering projects. The role focuses on preparing technical drawings, plans, specifications, and project documentation while working closely with civil engineers and project teams. The ideal candidate has strong CAD skills, an understanding of civil engineering principles, and an interest in developing their career in civil design.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and drafting of civil site development and land development projects, including grading plans, stormwater management systems, utility layouts, and site plans.
• Create, update, and maintain engineering drawings, designs, and technical specifications using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Work alongside civil engineers to evaluate project requirements and develop practical and effective design solutions.
• Review project plans, specifications, and design calculations to identify inconsistencies, errors, or potential improvements.
• Ensure designs and project documentation follow applicable local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and engineering standards.
• Maintain organized and accurate project records, drawings, reports, and other technical documentation.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate project progress, design updates, and potential challenges to the project team.
• Provide general technical support to engineers throughout the design and development process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Solid understanding of fundamental civil engineering principles and design practices.
• Previous experience working with surveying equipment and techniques is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, team members, clients, and other project stakeholders.
• Previous experience in a Civil Engineering Technician or similar civil design role is preferred.
• Willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and industry practices while continuing to grow professionally in the field of civil engineering and design.

Salary Range

$55,000 - $95,000 depending on experience.
