Job summary

The Foth Companies in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a Civil Design Technician to join our Transportation Design team as a full‑time contributor.

You will support design engineers and project managers on roadway projects, assist in planning, design and construction administration, create 3D models, and help integrate new technologies while continuing to learn. This role collaborates across disciplines, adheres to schedules, and uses Civil 3D/OpenRoads standards to produce accurate drawings.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
• Familiarity with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD/Civil3D for design/drafting tasks.

Civil Design Technician

Full‑time position on the Transportation Design team in Des Moines, IA.

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as technical support for the project team of design engineers and project managers for roadway/transportation related projects.

• Coordinate roadway design project plans with associated utilities.
• Create 3D models to support the design and engineering of key project elements.
• Integrate new technologies within the design process.
• Demonstrate eagerness to learn new areas of engineering.

Required Qualifications

• Associates degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
• Familiarity with or previous experience using MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD/Civil3D software for design and drafting tasks.
