McMillen, Inc. seeks a Civil Design Tech III to join our water resources team. You will lead Civil 3D drafting and 3D modeling for large multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating with design engineers and BIM specialists to deliver precise drawings from concept to completion.

We value problem solvers with strong CAD/BIM skills, GIS experience, and the ability to implement company standards. A strong background in water resources and QA/QC is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of progressive Civil CAD and 3D modeling experience.
  • Advanced Autodesk Civil 3D expertise required.
  • Experience incorporating GIS data and survey files into models.
  • Ability to lead QA/QC workflows and design reviews.
  • Associate degree in drafting/design preferred.

Responsabilités

  • Manage Civil 3D drafting and modeling for large projects.
  • Develop models using Civil 3D, Revit, Inventor, ReCap, and Navisworks.
  • Oversee project files using ACC and coordinate design reviews via Bluebeam.
  • Translate instructions into advanced drawings and handle non-routine tasks.
  • Lead QA/QC workflows for major projects and ensure standards compliance.
  • Contribute to BIM standards and prepare man-hour estimates.
  • Coordinate with Design Technology across disciplines.
  • Serve as SME for problem resolution and training.
  • Lead design reviews and coordinate with clients.

Civil Design Tech III

As a Design Tech III, you will be instrumental in elevating our water resource projects, driving innovation, delivering high-quality engineering solutions, often requiring creative designs to solve complex design problems. Frequent coordination and communication with design engineers is essential to solving problems, improving processes, and completing projects on time.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and direct Civil 3D drafting and modeling efforts for large, multi-disciplinary projects across various software platforms and team members.
  • Develop and manage complex project models utilizing Civil 3D, Revit, Inventor, ReCap, and Navisworks.
  • Oversee project files and data environment using Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and coordinate design reviews via Bluebeam Revu.
  • Translate verbal instructions and conceptual ideas into advanced technical drawings, executing complex, non-routine assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Conceptualize and plan the visual presentation of intricate, unique designs, adaptively solving challenges that fall outside established drafting standards.
  • Lead rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) workflows for major projects to ensure absolute accuracy and strict compliance with company and client standards.
  • Actively contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of company-wide BIM and Civil 3D standards.
  • Prepare accurate man‑hour estimates for drafting activities and overall project support; assist engineering teams in developing and maintaining comprehensive drawing lists.
  • Partner with Design Technology personnel across multiple disciplines on large-scale, integrated projects.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource and subject matter expert (SME) for problem resolution, guiding both drafting team members and engineering staff.
  • Facilitate project meetings, lead design reviews, provide clear, effective project updates. Coordinate directly with clients to implement and adhere to appropriate design standards.
Qualifications
  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in Civil CAD and 3D modeling, ideally within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Technical or vocational program completion in drafting/design is required; an associate degree (AA/AS) in a related field is preferred.
  • Advanced, hands‑on expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D is required.
  • Proven proficiency in creating and editing plan and profile drawings, advanced grading plans, corridors, custom subassemblies, and section views.
  • Strong ability to coordinate and integrate GIS data, survey files, coordinate systems, datums, and point cloud data into cohesive models.
  • Heavy familiarity with channel design, complex grading, and yard piping configurations.
  • Dedicated experience in water resources engineering is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently set up, manage, and produce comprehensive engineering design drawing packages from concept to completion.
  • Proven success collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams across multiple concurrent, fast‑paced projects.
  • Strong technical writing, organizational, and professional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical details to both internal teams and external clients.

Compensation Package:
  • Pay Range: $44.00 - $67.42 hr. (DOE)
