Job summary

BKF is seeking a Design Engineer with a couple years of civil infrastructure design experience to join our Bay Area onsite team. You will support Land Development projects from concept to construction documentation, working with seasoned engineers to gain hands-on experience.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and a California EIT/FE are strong assets. The role emphasizes collaboration, learning, and growth within a supportive, multi-office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from ABET-accredited curriculum.
• 1–3 years of experience in site development and design of residential/commercial subdivisions, utilities, roads, and public works.
• Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• EIT or FE certification preferred.
• Familiarity with preparing documents, specifications, and design plans.
• Exposure to public agency standards and permitting processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and development of site plans for residential, commercial, mixed-use, roadway, highway, and public works projects.
• Prepare grading and drainage plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D and standard engineering practices.
• Create designs for land development, including potable water distribution and wastewater systems.
• Participate in internal design reviews and support project scheduling and task prioritization.
• Support preparation of engineering reports, feasibility studies, and master planning documents.
• Develop technical specifications and cost estimates to support proposals and construction documents.
• Coordinate design efforts daily with project engineers and stakeholders.
• Review plans and calculations for accuracy and constructability.
