Job summary

Mortenson Construction in Albuquerque is seeking a Laborer Helper to assist Laborers and Laborer Journeyman with material handling, preparing work areas, and keeping equipment clean. You will support multiple crafts and help prepare tools for use on busy construction sites.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, erecting scaffolding, moving concrete, and maintaining site safety. A team player with safety awareness and a willingness to travel per project requirements is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction preferred.
• Ability to operate power and non-powered hand tools safely.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance when required.

Laborer

Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking a Laborer Helper who will be responsible for assisting Laborers and Laborer Journeyman with material handling, assembling and dismantling equipment, preparing work areas, and cleaning of machines and workspaces.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment
• Prepare, handle, and supply materials and tools to be used by other crafts
• Clean work area, machines, and equipment
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding (5X7X16) and staging
• Level ground for scaffolding
• Tend motor and grout: lift, unload, move, set, and shovel between wheelbarrows and buckets
• General cleanup and clearing of debris, including sweeping, cleaning, washing, and loading or burning of debris
• Place, push, pull, and shovel concrete
• Vibrate concrete
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• Willingness to travel per project requirements
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Experience in construction preferred
• Ability to work with tools and equipment such as power and non-powered hand tools, vibrators, pumps, drills, and jackhammers; forklifts, skid loaders, and power buggies
• Strong teamwork orientation; positive attitude and professional customer service skills; detail orientation; active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback
• Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
