Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced heavy Civil Construction Administrator for the Southern California region (Los Angeles / Orange County / San Bernardino). You will oversee construction administration for solid waste facility capital projects, ensuring work stays within budget and scope while coordinating with clients and contractors.

The role requires extensive field experience, strong planning and communication skills, and the ability to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Over 20 years of experience in construction administration or resident engineering for heavy civil projects.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s in CM/engineering/geology preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule management, and cost control.
  • Maintain positive client interaction and regular communications with stakeholders.
  • Occasional travel within California for project sites.
  • Ability to read plans and specifications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in field conditions.

Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced heavy Civil Construction Administrator for the Southern California Region (Los Angeles / Orange County / San Bernardino). The Construction Administrator performs construction administration oversight for solid waste facility capital improvement projects. The Construction Administrator is responsible for monitoring, documenting, scheduling, directing, and communicating to clients, contractors, sub-consultants, and Tetra Tech personnel. A successful Construction Administrator is also responsible for assisting the project manager in ensuring all projects arrive within budget and scope, deliver capital projects to the client within scope and budget, identifying and troubleshooting problems in the field, and ensuring project safety. The pay scale for this position is $90.00-$110.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

  • Effectively and proactively help forecast and track construction schedules
  • Coordinate with clients, subs, engineers, and contractors

Qualifications:

  • 20 plus years of experience with construction administration / resident engineering with heavy civil construction including mass excavation, utilities, drainage, etc. (experience with solid waste facilities is a plus), four (4) years' experience given for bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (prefer a bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, geology, or related field of study)
  • Ability to perform planning, organization, schedule management, and cost control
  • Maintain positive client interaction including regular communications to all levels of client positions and regulatory agencies
  • Occasional travel for extended periods within CA
  • Walk long distances, up and down steeply sloped landfills and outdoor terrain
  • Lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a non-consistent basis
  • Pass a company paid, baseline health physical and drug screening
  • Ability to obtain, and keep in good standing, a valid driver’s license
  • Available to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
  • Ability to apply applicable environmental regulations and regulatory requirements to projects
  • Ability to read plans and specifications
  • Prepare detailed field reports and effectively communicate in writing to multiple audiences on time sensitive issues

Working on variety of projects including vertical construction, mass excavation, vertical construction, linear construction (pipeline, roads, channels)
