Job summary

Matrix Service is seeking a Carpenter, Concrete, Civil Helper in Washington to support building and repair work in refinery and construction environments. You will handle woodwork, framing, and concrete-related tasks, following drawings and safety standards.

The role requires hands-on carpentry skills, tool proficiency, and ability to work up to 12-hour shifts in a field setting with safety as a priority. Competitive hourly pay and full benefits accompany this position.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years in refinery maintenance, turnaround, or construction.
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Must pass Carpenter Skills Test or have NCCER certification.
  • Must complete Matrix Safety training and site-specific training.
  • Must obtain and maintain DISA drug testing status.

  • Identify hazards and take corrective action; maintain a clean work area.

Carpenter, Concrete, Civil Helper

Carpenter, Concrete, Civil Helper will be responsible for helping to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools, conforming to necessary building codes. Perform all types of carpentry work in new construction.

TYPICAL DUTIES
  • Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its Core Values

  • Receives and understands instructions and prints regarding work assignment in shop or field.
  • Interprets part and assembly drawings. Makes sketches showing construction details for fabrication or remodeling work.
  • Plans sequence of operations and job methods.
  • Makes calculations essential in estimating material requirements and for laying out and developing curved, angular, plane, or irregular shapes.
  • Selects materials and tools most suitable for the job.
  • Sets up and operates woodworking tools to cut, finish, and form material for the job.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools to form, fabricate, finish, erect, dismantle, repair and refinish structures and refinery office equipment.
  • Performs a wide variety of carpentry work such as interior finishing, repair, and construction of office furniture, storage cabinet, doors, partitions, windows, building, tanks, benches, shoring, and scaffolds.
  • Builds forms and installs reinforcing rods and anchor bolts for concrete foundations.
  • Locates and installs prefabricated wood and metal parts.
    Install or replace glass.
  • Dismantles, erects and repairs various types of roofing.
  • Erects various type scaffolds including pipe and safety barriers and makes provisions for handling materials needed for the job.
  • Keeps immediate working area clean.
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of three (3) years or more in refinery maintenance/turnaround/or construction experience.
  • A general knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Must be able to pass the Carpenter Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
  • Must be able to complete the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within the DISA drug testing program.
PHYSICAL/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Employee will be standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
  • Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind.
  • Must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.

The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, the actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.

Hiring range: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Full range for this position, available overtime: $24.00 - $26.00 hour
