Job summary

Turner Industries is hiring a Civil Carpenter for our team in Decatur, Alabama. The role involves constructing, erecting, installing, fabricating, dismantling, and repairing structures, formwork, and fixtures using wood and metal components, following project drawings and safety protocols.

The ideal candidate has 1–4 years of experience, basic hand and power tool knowledge, and may need NCCER certification; pre-employment tests and drug screens are required.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• 1–4 years of experience in the skill (level depending on mechanic).
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• NCCER certification may be required at some job sites.
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Safety requirements per client including PPE and dress code.
• Applicants must not pose a direct health/safety threat.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or plans for material needs and dimensions.
• Prepare layouts and mark cutting lines; shape and assemble materials as specified.
• Erect framework and install floors, stairs, partitions, and trim as directed.
• Construct forms and chutes for concrete; load, haul, and install per drawings.
• Finish concrete in formwork and set form panels as required.

Turner Industries Group, LLC has an opening for a Civil Carpenter to join our Team in the Decatur, AL area. The Civil Carpenter will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, fabricating, dismantling and repairing structures, formwork and fixtures of wood, metal forms and associated accessories.

Essential Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
• NCCER certification may be required at some job sites
• Written pre-employment qualification test
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
• Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace

Functional Requirements:

Studies blueprints, sketches or structural plans for information pertaining to the type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated, Selects specific types of lumber or other materials, Prepares layouts including lines and grades, Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together, Erects framework for structures and lays sub-flooring, Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work, Covers subfloor with building paper to keep out moisture and lays hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors, Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finishes hardware such as locks, letter drops and kick plates, Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete, Erects temporary platforms, steps, and ladders for assembling structures below ground, at ground level or above ground level, Fabricates formwork then loads, hauls, and carries it to the job site and installs per drawings, sketches, or plans, Places and finishes concrete in formwork and sets and aligns form panels, Sets grout forms for epoxy and cement grout, Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Compensation:

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:
