Job summary

Bolton & Menk, Inc. in Des Moines invites a Civil Engineering Technician to contribute to office drafting and possible field work.

You will assist design and construction phase activities on diverse projects and help prepare plans, specifications and cost estimates. Ideal candidates have an associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or relevant experience, CAD design software knowledge (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation), and a valid driver's license for travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge and skills in CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation).
• Working knowledge of DOT standard specifications, standard plans, and standard plates preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and transportation; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and construction phase activities on various projects.
• Perform basic design computations and preliminary layout work.
• Assist with project plans and specifications, prepare cost and quantity take-offs.
• Support construction observation activities, document actions, measure and test, interact with contractors and city staff.
