Job summary

Brightpath Associates LLC is seeking a CAD Designer to support the civil design team with drafting, site plan preparation, and basic design calculations under supervision.

You will organize project data, apply redline corrections, maintain drawing files to firm standards, and help produce plan sets while gaining structured mentorship and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering technology, drafting, architecture or related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Solid grasp of civil engineering concepts from coursework or experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow firm standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform CAD drafting including plan sheet layout and annotations under supervision.
• Assist with site plans, grading plans, utility exhibits, and construction details.
• Organize project data, surveys, plats and GIS information.
• Conduct basic design calculations like slope checks and setback verifications.
• Incorporate redline corrections and maintain organized drawing files.
• Learn and apply CAD standards, templates and naming conventions.
• Support senior designers and PMs during site visits and data collection.
• Assist with document assembly, plotting, and plan set production.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Job description

The CAD Designer role supports the civil design team with CAD drafting, site plan preparation, and basic design calculations under direct supervision. Day-to-day work includes organizing project data, incorporating redline corrections, maintaining drawing files to firm standards, and assisting with plan set production. The position offers hands‑on exposure to professional practice alongside structured mentorship and training opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Perform CAD drafting tasks including plan sheet layout, linework, annotations, and drawing formatting under direct supervision.
2. Assist with preparation of site plans, grading plans, utility exhibits, and construction details.
3. Compile and organize project data including topographic surveys, boundary plats, and GIS information.
4. Perform basic design calculations such as slope checking, setback verification, and simple area takeoffs.
5. Incorporate redline corrections and review comments into drawings promptly and accurately.
6. Maintain organized and properly labeled project drawing files and directories.
7. Learn and apply firm CAD standards, drawing templates, and naming conventions.
8. Support senior designers and PMs during site visits and field data collection.
9. Assist with document assembly, plotting, and plan set production.
10. Actively engage in training, mentorship sessions, and professional development opportunities provided by the firm.
11. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, Architecture, or related field
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; and Civil3D
• Foundational understanding of civil engineering concepts from coursework or prior experience.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn firm standards and workflows.
