Job description

Civil and Structural Engineer (Power Generation)

Pacifico Energy develops, finances, builds, and operates energy infrastructure that powers businesses and communities. In the U.S., we are tackling one of the biggest challenges facing AI and large-scale data centers: access to reliable power. Our private grids bring dedicated generation and energy storage directly to customers, helping projects move forward without waiting for traditional utility connections. We draw on Pacifico Energy Group’s experience across the U.S., Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam, spanning solar, wind, battery storage, and natural gas. Joining Pacifico means helping turn ambitious energy projects into operating infrastructure, with work that connects directly to the people and businesses building the future of AI.

We are hiring a Civil and Structural Engineer to join our team. The Civil and Structural Engineer supports power generation projects including gas turbines combined with solar and BESS renewable energy systems. This role is responsible for coordinating and supervising civil and structural engineering design activities, including site development, grading, drainage, foundations, and plant structures, to ensure effective integration of site, civil, and structural requirements throughout project development, engineering, construction, and commissioning. The position acts as the technical representative, providing oversight of EPC contractors and engineering consultants while managing civil, structural, and geotechnical risks that could impact project cost, schedule, or constructability.

What you get to do:

Civil Engineering Design

  • Coordinate and supervise civil engineering design activities performed by EPC contractors or engineering consultants, including site layout, grading, earthwork, roads, drainage, and underground utilities.
  • Review civil design deliverables for consistency with project requirements, constructability, and integration with overall plant design.
  • Ensure civil designs incorporate requirements related to flood protection, stormwater management, erosion control, and site access.
  • Support optimization of site layout, grading, and earthwork quantities to reduce construction cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Participate in civil design reviews, value engineering exercises, and constructability assessments.
  • Coordinate and supervise structural engineering design activities for power generation facilities, including foundations for gas turbines, generators, transformers, and balance‑of‑plant equipment, as well as steel structures, pipe racks, buildings, and support structures for solar and BESS installations.
  • Review structural design deliverables, including calculations, drawings, and specifications, for technical accuracy, code compliance, and consistency with project requirements.
  • Review geotechnical investigations and ensure geotechnical recommendations are appropriately incorporated into foundation and structural designs.
  • Coordinate structural interfaces with equipment vendors (equipment loads, anchor bolts, and embedments) and with mechanical, electrical, and civil design disciplines.
  • Verify structural designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360) and site‑specific wind, seismic, and soil conditions.
  • Participate in structural design reviews, value engineering exercises, and constructability assessments.
  • Serve as the civil and structural engineering coordination lead in interactions with EPC contractors.
  • Define scopes of work, review proposals, and manage performance of civil, structural, and geotechnical consultants.
  • Supervise quality, schedule, and budget of EPC and consultant deliverables related to civil and structural engineering.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments to ensure civil and structural requirements are fully integrated.
  • Support resolution of civil, structural, and geotechnical issues during engineering, procurement, and construction.

Regulatory & Stakeholder Interface

  • Support and coordinate communications with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders related to civil and structural design approvals.
  • Assist in responding to regulatory comments, information requests, and stakeholder inquiries.
  • Support public consultation or disclosure processes as required.
  • Maintain organized records of technical studies, design documentation, calculations, drawings, and correspondence.
  • Provide regular reporting on civil and structural design progress, technical risks.
  • Support civil and structural inputs to project schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
  • Assist with civil and structural sections of development reports, internal approvals, and financing or due diligence materials.

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7–10 years of experience supporting civil and structural engineering for power generation or large industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supervising EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
  • Working knowledge of civil site design, foundation and structural steel design for gas turbine facilities.
  • Strong technical review, coordination, and communication skills.

Preferred :

  • Experience with gas turbine simple or combined cycle power generation projects.
  • Experience reviewing civil and structural design packages during EPC execution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and civil design tools (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Project owner/developer-side EPC and consultant supervision
  • Civil, structural, and geotechnical risk management
  • Integrated site and plant design coordination
  • Design code and quality compliance oversight
  • Schedule- and cost-aware decision-making
