Job summary

VoteShield (a project of Protect Democracy) seeks a Data Scientist to analyze public voter registration data and support election officials in maintaining accurate voter information. You will work with a world-class analysis and engineering team to turn data into actionable insights and reports.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate a clear data story in writing and presenting.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Interest in public or civic data and commitment to non-partisan analysis.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze changes in public voter registration data and absentee ballot data to provide timely insights.
  • Write and present data reports accessible to the team, partners, and election administrators.
  • Conduct legal/policy research to provide context for reports.
  • Contribute to research using VoteShield datasets and tools.
  • Collaborate with Protect Democracy colleagues to enhance data analyses and automation.
  • Expand and enrich current data with external datasets.
  • Develop and document reporting standards and best practices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective partners in the election community.
