Job summary

CityVet South Austin is seeking a part-time Groomer to join our vet-led clinic. The role focuses on high-quality grooming services including bathing, nail trims, ear cleanings, and haircuts, while building lasting client relationships at our South Austin location.

You will work in a team-oriented environment with opportunities to advance, and the position transitions to commission after one year based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age at hire.
• Minimum 1+ year grooming experience or formal instruction from a reputable program.
• Ability to restrain animals safely.

Responsibilities

• Manage the grooming schedule to meet client needs and staff availability, aiming for 10–12 grooms per day with bathing assistance or 6 without.
• Communicate with clients to document grooming preferences, habits, sensitivities, and special requests in electronic records.
• Train, supervise and develop bathing team members on proper bathing policies and safety.

CityVet South Austin is looking for Pet Groomers to join our team!

The Groomer is responsible for maintaining the animal’s physical appearance by meeting the expectations and requests communicated by the client. It is the Groomer’s responsibility to establish and cultivate lasting client relationships by providing high-quality grooming services such as bathing, bathing supervision, nail trims, ear cleanings, anal gland expression and haircuts.

A day in the life:

• Manage the grooming schedule to efficiently coordinate the demand of the client’s needs with the availability of the grooming staff, leading to an average completion of 10-12 grooms per day (w/bathing assistance) OR 6 grooms a day (w/o bathing assistance).
• Perform thorough client communication when establishing and maintaining electronic records, including client preferences or instructions for grooming, animal’s habits and sensitivities, and any other personal preferences or requests from the client.
• Properly train, supervise and develop all bathing team members on proper bathing policies and work to develop their skills in a positive manner on an ongoing basis.
• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• Understanding and ability to properly and safely restrain animals
• A minimum of 1+ years of experience as a Groomer, Groomers Apprentice or has received formal instruction from a reputable grooming program is required

This is an hourly position that transitions to commission on or before one year of employment, based on business needs.
