  • Chaperone and coach team members at weekend squash tournaments & trips.
  • Coordinate with parents about weekend and extra squash logistics.
  • Oversee equipment and uniform purchasing; string racquets as needed.
  • Help run tournaments, clinics, community events, and league matches.
  • Organize training days and mini-camps on school holidays and half-days.
  • Manage squash volunteers for weekends and CitySquash Summer Camp.
  • Build strong relationships with students and their families through regular meetings.

Job Description:

CitySquash is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Squash to start in Fall 2026. The position provides the unique opportunity to develop competitive junior squash players at the elementary, middle, and high school and college levels.

Program Description:

CitySquash (www.citysquash.org) is a nonprofit youth program based in the Bronx. The organization helps motivated and talented young people from economically disadvantaged households to fulfill their academic, athletic, and personal potential. Founded in 2002, CitySquash currently serves 200 elementary, middle, high school, and college students. For our participants, CitySquash is an intensive, multi day-a-week commitment that lasts up to 14 years and includes squash, tutoring, mentoring, community service, travel, culture, nutrition, high school placement, employment training and college prep. Over 130 CitySquash students students have won scholarships to selective prep schools and colleges, including Avon Old Farms, Berkshire, Blair, Canterbury, Eaglebrook, Episcopal, Hackley, Lawrenceville, Loomis Chaffee, Mercersburg, Millbrook, St. George’s, St. Paul’s, Taft, Trinity-Pawling, Westover, Bates, Bowdoin, Columbia, Connecticut College, Cornell, CUNY, Franklin & Marshall, Hamilton, Hobart, Middlebury, Mt. Holyoke, St. Lawrence, Trinity, Vassar and Wesleyan.

Primary Roles And Responsibilities

  • Manage squash volunteers for the weekends and for the CitySquash Summer Camp
  • Build strong relationships with students and their families, through regular interaction and meetings
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Extensive experience as a squash player and/or coach
  • Knowledge of Spanish (with proficiency or fluency highly preferred)
  • Driver’s license required (candidates must be comfortable driving a 15-passenger van)
  • Must be energetic, upbeat, and enthusiastic about the CitySquash mission
Schedule

During the school year (Sept – June), there will be considerable variability in the weekly schedule based on tournament schedule, School Breaks, And Other Factors. Over The Course Of The Year, However, You Could Reasonably Expect To Have a Schedule That Looks Like The Following

Work Schedule

4 weekdays (i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

  • 11:30 am –7:30 pm or 12:00 – 8:00 pm

Saturdays or Sundays – 1 day tournament or weekend practices

Weekend Work Week (2-day tournaments)

  • 3 weekdays (i.e., Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
  • 11:30am –7:30pm or 12:00pm – 8:00pm

During the summer (July and August), the workday typically runs from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is no weekend work when school is not in session in July and August.

Vacation:

The position includes 30 days of paid company holidays (some but not all national holidays are off).

Compensation:

$50,000 – $60,000 DOE. Full health insurance coverage.
