Job summary

City of Fresno is seeking a Paralegal to support litigation, prepare essential legal documents, and represent the City in administrative matters. This role provides exposure to municipal law and public service in Fresno.

Duties include preparing pleadings, responding to Public Records Act requests, conducting legal research, and organizing case files. Two vacancies exist with an appointment period of three months.

Qualifications

• Completion of a paralegal training program or equivalent
• Proficiency in legal terminology, procedures, and research
• Ability to prepare pleadings, memoranda, and discovery materials

Responsibilities

• Prepare legal documents and pleadings.
• Prepare and respond to Public Records Act requests.
• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda.
• Organize case files, trial documents, and exhibits.
• Brief witnesses for hearings and trials.
• Perform investigative work and interview witnesses.
• Present cases before administrative hearing officers.
• Assist with code enforcement activities.
• Investigate citizen complaints and prepare cases.
