Job summary

Sumter Local Government Consulting is assisting the City of Lake City, GA in recruiting a City Manager. The City Manager will report to the Mayor and City Council and lead all municipal operations with a focus on fiscal stewardship and exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, and will drive collaboration with residents, businesses, and regional partners to foster sustainable growth in Lake City.

Qualifications

• Fifteen (15) or more years of broad and diversified management experience in planning and directing major programs of local public services.
• Extensive knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of modern executive and administrative planning, management, and control.
• Thorough knowledge of modern principles and practices in conducting diversified public services in city government.
• Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, prioritize, and assign the work of subordinate staff with a deep working knowledge of human resources policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all municipal operations.
• Direct preparation and administration of the City's annual operating and capital budgets, monitor revenues and expenditures.
• Oversee recruitment, retention, succession planning, employee development, performance management, and labor relations.
• Mentor department leaders, build organizational capacity, and promote organizational effectiveness.
• Foster collaboration with residents, businesses, regional partners, and other stakeholders to advance redevelopment and sustainable growth.
