THE POSITION

The City of McCall is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and community-focused professional to serve as its next City Manager. Located approximately 100 miles north of Boise, McCall is a year-round mountain resort community situated on the southern shore of Payette Lake. The City has approximately 4,133 year-round residents, with the population increasing significantly during peak tourism seasons, holidays, and special events. Residents value McCall’s small-town character, natural environment, and active lifestyle. McCall operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The City Manager is appointed by and accountable to a five-member City Council and oversees the day-to-day administration of a full-service municipal organization with an adopted FY2027 all-funds budget of approximately $78.8 million.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The next City Manager will join an organization with a strong and experienced team of Department Heads who are accustomed to participating fully in planning and decision-making. The Manager will be expected to foster a collaborative and respectful workplace, maintain a close and trusting relationship with the City Council, and be visible and accessible within the community. McCall is seeking a leader who is approachable, genuine, politically astute, and an exceptional communicator. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, accountability, strategic thinking, and a willingness to support innovation and creative problem-solving.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.

• One year as a City Manager
• Three years as an Assistant or Deputy City Manager
• Five years as a Department Head or equivalent position with supervisory experience
• An equivalent combination of the above experience

Residency within the City of McCall is required within 12 months of the start date.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range is $148,285 to $203,461, with a midpoint of $172,424. Appointment within the range will depend on qualifications and experience.
