Job summary

The City of Winder seeks a City Engineer with extensive civil engineering experience to guide staff, consultants, and officials in developing the in-house engineering department and directing transportation, road, stormwater and planning projects. This role oversees the Local Issuing Authority, manages inspection programs, budgets, and long-range plans, and ensures compliance with codes.

A PE license and five years’ experience are required, with the possibility to obtain state licenses within 18

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, public administration, project management or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible related-engineering experience.
• U.S. citizenship or legal work status; pass background and credit checks.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with ability to obtain license within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Direct oversight of the transportation network and right of way system; long-term planning and coordination with stakeholders.
• Prepare and supervise plans, designs, cost estimates, bids, contracts and schedules for infrastructure projects.
• Assist with Capital Improvement Program and bid solicitations; prepare cost estimates and documentation.
• Serve on the Development and permitting Team; ensure compliance with city codes and best practices.
• Project manage infrastructure construction, storm water, traffic, and street rehabilitation projects.
• Review plans for permit approvals and ensure compliance with City codes.
• Prepare complex and technical reports; maintain budgets and documentation.
• Provide leadership and effective communication with staff, consultants, and elected officials.
