City of Galveston is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee private contractors, ensuring compliance with city requirements and overall quality assurance on projects around Galveston Island.

The role includes reviewing documents, attending meetings, verifying material installation and presence, and preparing daily activity reports. Candidates should have a High School diploma and relevant inspection experience, with strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset.

Qualificações

• High School diploma or equivalent; 3 years’ experience in construction inspection operations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee private contractors to ensure compliance with City requirements and quality assurance.
• Interact with contractor and plant personnel as necessary.
• Communicate with engineers, contractors and architects as needed.
• Review contract documents.
• Attend pre-construction and progress meetings.
• Verify installation and presence of materials on site and off-site.
• Prepare daily activity reports.
• Review pay requests from contractors for approval.
• Support city-citizen relations with courteous and confidential service.
• Be available for emergency public safety tasks as needed.
