Job summary

West Star Aviation Inc. is seeking a Sheet Metal Technician in Chattanooga, TN. The role involves hands-on sheet metal work on turbine aircraft, reading blueprints, and collaborating with the team on various projects.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and experience with sheet metal; an Airframe and Powerplant license is preferred. On-site role with full benefits and growth opportunities in a mature MRO environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform basic sheet metal operations: drilling, riveting, cutting on airframes and components.
• Apply and remove sealant, sound deadening and finishes.
• Maintain, clean and repair shop facilities and tooling as needed.
• Navigate electronic manuals and maintenance data bases with basic computer skills.
• Communicate clearly in English with team members and supervisors.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What you can expect as a Sheet Metal Technician at West Star:

As Sheet Metal Technician, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need to have a basic to advancedknowledge of turbine aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures and techniques. You many also be required to help supervise crews and assist in organizing manpower and setting priorities for involved projects.

You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including

• Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe and associated components.
• Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.
• Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required.
• Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance data bases.
• Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
• Any other job-related duties assigned by supervisor or management.

What you'll need to bring with you:

A High school diploma or equivalent, and Airframe and Powerplant License is preferred.

Avalid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience

Prior experience working with sheet metal is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Lifts 50 lbs.

Routine walking, bending and squatting, or sitting.

Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.

Climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas.

Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.

Supervision

Work under supervision of assigned Team Leader.

May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations from very cold to very hot.

Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.

Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.

Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.

Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.

Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
