Job summary

A technology services company is seeking a Cisco Wireless Network Engineer in Plano, TX to provide operations support and manage network equipment. Job Description
  • Provide operations support for Enterprise LAN, Security, Data Center, and Campus Network platforms across North America locations.
  • Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including Switches & Routers using DNAC tool.
  • Configuration and Operational support experience with Cisco ACI – Spine‑leaf switches, APIC and APIC-EM controller, Nexus switches.
  • Deep understanding of network orchestration and automation using Cisco ACI, SDA & DNAC with ISE integration.
  • Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation.
  • Configuring routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
  • Supervise and/or perform site installs, maintenance, upgrades or software enhancements to support the network infrastructure needs.
  • Function as a point of escalation for operational entities regarding regular or complex issues.
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Investigating faults in the network.
  • Resolve incidents/problems/Changes according to established procedures.
  • Work on Service improvement activities and completing them within target dates.
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
  • Work closely with customers, infrastructure teams and vendors such as Cisco.
  • Reporting network status to key stakeholders.
Essential Skills
  • Strong knowledge in switching technologies – STP, trunking, Ether channel, HSRP, VRRP, LACP, PaGP.
  • Switching models: Cisco 6500/6900, Nexus 7K, 5K, 2K, VPC, FEX, VDC, Cisco VSS, Catalyst 4500/3800/3500/2900.
  • Deep understanding of IP addressing and VLSM; extensive experience designing/implementing Cisco ACI, SDA, DNAC in datacenter & cloud solutions.
  • Strong experience with monitoring and alerting tools: DNAC, ACI, ISE, PagerDuty, Nagios & Thousand Eyes.
  • CCNA Certified (Routing & Switching) & higher.
  • Expert knowledge of LAN switching – STP, trunking, ether channel; high‑availability fundamentals (HSRP & VRRP).
  • Proficient in SDA, DNAC, ISE, VXLAN, ACI, fabric path, spanning tree, VLAN, VTP concepts.
  • Hands‑on load‑balancing concepts – LACP, PaGP.
  • Good understanding of DHCP, DNS; hands‑on troubleshooting of ISR routers, switches & wireless controllers.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Nexus 7K/5K/2K, Catalyst 3K/4K series and ASR & ISR router models.
  • Experience designing, deploying and troubleshooting VSS, VDC, VPC, OTV, fabric path, FCoE & multi‑tenancy in datacenter.
  • Hands‑on experience solving complex network incidents, requests, and problems with ACI, SDA, DNAC.
  • Troubleshooting network link/device hardware/configuration issues – isolation, resolution.
  • Install, configure and support large‑scale production corporate network infrastructure.
  • Schedule and perform maintenance, repair, upgrade tasks while minimizing impact on production.
  • Strong Layer‑2 & Layer‑3 networking skills – BGP, IPv4, IPv6, change management.
  • Troubleshooting routing protocols – BGP, EIGRP, static, OSPF; collaborate with ISPs and internal teams.
  • Experience in CoS, QoS, WRED and related QoS parameters.
  • Working knowledge of MPLS, Metro Ethernet, hub‑and‑spoke concepts.
