Introduction
Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of computer information systems. The instructor will adhere to the general faculty guidelines as specified by the Calhoun Community College Personnel Handbook, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Alabama Community College System policy.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule D1: $48,454 – $98,138 (9 months)
Additional summer assignment may be available: $14,959 – $30,351 (3 months)
(Salary placement within this range is determined by your academic credentials and documented years of full-time related work experience)

Responsibilities
- Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise.
- Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria.
- Collect, maintain, and submit accurate class records including grade reports, attendance rosters, absences, withdrawal, and other information to the appropriate offices.
- Teach at varied times and places and in varied formats based on student demand; day or evening, at all sites, in the traditional classroom, hybrid or web format.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of materials used in academic administration when requested, including course syllabi, program outlines, course scheduling, and catalog material.
- Participate in scheduled in-service activities, Honor’s Day, and Graduation ceremonies.
- Assist in the development of discipline‑specific student learning outcome objectives.
- Assess student learning using multiple assessment strategies.
- Analyze and interpret data relative to student learning and provide feedback to the institution and students for the purpose of improving and expanding student learning.
- Provide academic and career advice to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences.
- Be prompt and punctual in reporting for work. Maintain assigned office hours.
- Continue as competent instructor in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and updating professional competencies.
- Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies;
- Provide advice to the administration on matters pertaining to the instructional program;
- Serve on institutional, local, and/or statewide committees engaged in furthering the work of the institution or program when appointed or when elected;
- Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, Personnel Handbook, and State Board Policy Manual; and follow such policies and procedures.
- Perform all duties with professionalism.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Masters’ degree, with at least 18 graduate semester hours in information technology, computer information systems, management information systems, computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, or related field from an accredited institution is required.
- Recent experience with information technology, cybersecurity, programming, system administration, model-based systems engineering, or systems engineering, either in the workplace, as an instructor, or as a student is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of industry certifications from major vendors such as CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, OMG, or others;
- Working knowledge of and hands‑on experience with the Python programming language;
- Experience in the use of current classroom educational technologies;
- Successful teaching experience;
- Ability to conduct individual and small group instruction;
- Experience in conducting synchronous and asynchronous online instruction;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to learn new teaching pedagogy, and new software, as required;
- An understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college system;
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
- Previous experience using Blackboard, or other course management software;
- Ability to deal effectively with diverse students, other employees, and the public;
- Commitment to all students, including those of diverse ages, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds;
- Successful problem solving skills.
- Understanding of the broad range of students' abilities in an open‑admissions college and the ability to accommodate varied learning styles;
