Job description

We are seeking a Senior Circuit Engineer / PCB Architect to lead the hardware platform design of our next-generation connected fueling and dispensing systems. In this role, you will define the core computing, fuel delivery system, interfacing, and connectivity architecture, selecting critical components and defining board-level interconnections. Rather than routing traces or managing daily CAD files, you will own the high-level hardware block diagrams, partition system modules, and guide external layout teams or design partners from concept through mass production.

Key Responsibilities

  • PCB & System Architecture: Define the high-level board architectures, module partitioning, fuel delivery controls integration, and internal hardware communication strategies.
  • Component Selection: Evaluate, source, and select critical system components, including microprocessors, display controllers, and wireless modules, balancing cost, performance, and long-term supply chain viability.
  • Peripherals Integration: Architect the interfaces and signaling methods required to integrate third-party electronic assemblies, payment hardware, and high-brightness display/touch screen modules.
  • Compliance & Technical Leadership: Define hardware requirements to align with fuel-dispensing safety benchmarks and global product compliance standards. Guide external engineering layout resources to ensure design intent is maintained.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in electronic hardware systems architecture or hardware product definition.
  • Domain Knowledge: Deep expertise in embedded system architectures, microprocessor/microcontroller selection, fuel systems hardware integration, and industrial communication networks (e.g., CAN, RS-485, Ethernet).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Areas of Preferred Familiarity

  • General Knowledge of Display & Touch Screen Integration: Basic familiarity with selecting and integrating rugged, outdoor-readable displays and touch screen controllers, including understanding video protocols (e.g., HDMI, LVDS, MIPI).
  • General Knowledge of Payment Hardware Integration: Conceptual exposure to the electrical and physical interfacing requirements for secure peripherals like EMV card readers, PIN pads, or contactless NFC modules.
  • General Knowledge of Safety Certifications: Broad familiarity with design principles required for industrial safety standards (such as UL, CE, or hazardous location classifications like Class 1 Div 2).
