Responsibilities

  • Develop IWPs and short interval plans for CIF scopes.
  • Prepare and review drawings, instructions, specs, and installation details.
  • Coordinate with superintendents for planning readiness, permits, materials, and execution.
  • Verify quantities and support progress tracking for CIF materials.
  • Ensure CIF materials and systems align with project needs.
  • Interface with superintendents, crafts, and subcontractors to coordinate technical requirements.
  • Support inspection planning, NCR resolution, punch closure, turnover docs.
  • Promote Zero Accident Philosophy during CIF activities.

Project Overview:

Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. Job Summary:

Assigned to a field engineering organization supporting Coatings, Insulation, and Fireproofing (CIF) scopes. Responsible for planning, coordination, and execution support of construction activities within assigned discipline and area. Supports superintendents, Craft Professionals, subcontractors, and other disciplines to ensure work is executed safely, in accordance with design, and quality. Performs general field engineering functions including work planning/work package development, material management, quantity tracking, quality verification, and technical coordination.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Supports development of Installation Work Packages (IWPs) and short interval planning for Coatings, Insulation, and Fireproofing (CIF) scopes.
  • Prepares and reviews construction drawings, sketches, field instructions, specifications, and installation details related to CIF work activities.
  • Coordinates with superintendents to ensure workface planning readiness, sequencing, access, permits, materials, and execution alignment.
  • Verifies installed quantities and supports progress tracking systems for coatings, insulation, fireproofing, and related materials.
  • Ensures CIF materials, coating systems, insulation materials, jacketing, vapor barriers, fireproofing materials, and required installation components are available and aligned with construction needs.
  • Interfaces with Superintendents, Craft Professionals, and subcontractors to coordinate technical requirements, resolve field issues, and maintain construction progress.
  • Supports inspection and test planning, quality verification, NCR resolution, punch closure, and turnover documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Promotes and supports Zero Accident Philosophy and safe execution of all CIF activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and typically 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of coatings, surface preparation, insulation systems, fireproofing systems, and associated personnel protection applications
  • Understands CIF technical standards, installation requirements, inspection points, quality requirements, and work sequences for large industrial projects to ensure work is compliant per specifications and drawings.
  • Skills to ensure IFC drawings, quantities, materials, inspections, access, permits, and workface readiness are available to support IWPs, superintendents, subcontractors, and project schedules.
  • Organizational skills to track quantities, inspect quality, and understand progress reporting using Bechtel Standard Applications Programs (BSAP)
  • Ability to coordinate with engineering, construction, quality, subcontractors, survey, and other disciplines to resolve NCRs, prevent rework, and elevate systemic risks or problems early and clearly.
