Job summary

RAPTOR MEDICINES INC is seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist, Biology Lead with deep kidney biology expertise to build and lead our kidney platform. On-site in Boston, you will drive target discovery, mechanistic validation, and translational assays across in vitro and in vivo models for next-generation genetic medicines.

The role requires a PhD with 3–8+ years of relevant experience, hands-on bench work, and a builder mindset in a fast-paced startup setting.

Qualifications

• PhD in nephrology/renal biology or related field with 3–8+ years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience.
• Deep expertise in both in vitro and in vivo kidney biology and translational renal models.
• Strong technical expertise in mammalian cell culture, qPCR/RT-qPCR, flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD, Western blot, immunostaining, and imaging.
• Excellent scientific communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the kidney biology platform spanning in vitro and in vivo capabilities for discovery and development of renal-targeted therapeutics.
• Establish, optimize, and scale kidney disease-relevant cellular, molecular, and animal models.
• Develop robust, scalable bioassays and workflows for target biology validation, receptor characterization, ligand discovery, and in vivo analyses.
• Design mechanistic assays and translational studies for kidney disease pathways relevant to targets.
• Lead or contribute to in vivo kidney disease studies, CROs, and integration of findings to refine hypotheses and delivery strategies.
• Collaborate across biology, platform, and therapeutic programs; drive scientific strategy and platform evolution.
