Job summary

FedEx Express Latin America and Caribbean Division is hiring a Courier at Cyril E. King Airport cargo center in St. Thomas, VI. You will handle daily delivery and pickup, provide courteous customer service, and complete related paperwork while upholding FedEx standards.

The role requires a High School diploma, basic English, 1–2 years driving experience, a valid license, a clean driving record, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and pick up packages safely and professionally.
• Operate non-articulated vehicles following procedures.

• Assess legality of shipments, including dangerous goods.
• Scan packages and use FedEx tracking features.
• Ensure availability of FedEx materials for shipping.

• May perform other related duties.

Involves providing courier services directly to customers on a daily basis including driving, customer service and completing any related administration or paperwork.

General job description

• Provides efficient and safe delivery and pick-up of packages and documents, while representing the company in a professional manner.


• Operates non-articulated vehicles safely and efficiently, complying with all governmental and corporate procedures.


• Accomplishes accurate and timely selection and inspection of assigned packages and the subsequent reporting of stop counts and miss-sorts.


• Seeks additional business from current customers, attempts to gain new business (passes leads to sales department), and informs sales department of significant changes in customer use/competitor's actions.


• Answers customer questions on FedEx feature of service and keeps customers informed about the company and its services.


• Ensures that packages conform to FedEx features of service; that proper labeling in provided; and that all paperwork is complete, neat, and accurate.


• Determines legality of packages including special requirements for dangerous goods and international shipments and separates packages by service type and destination in accordance with established procedures.


• Scans packages according to prescribed procedures and demonstrates proficiency in features of service and equipment.


• Ensures customers have adequate supply of FedEx materials for shipping.


• Loads and unloads company vehicles.


• Cleans and performs minor maintenance to company vehicles as necessary and maintains neat and clean personal appearance to uphold company's public image.


• Ensures the use of safety equipment and full compliance with FedEx safety policies, procedures, norms, rules, and practices.


• May be required to perform other duties

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education

• High School diploma


• Basic English skills preferred

Minimum Experience

• One (1) to two (2) years professional driving experience


• Must possess appropriate license for vehicle assigned in accordance with specific country regulations (C1 and/or C2)


• Good driving record


• Must be 21 years old or older

Minimum Required Skills

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and to maneuver any single package weighing up to 150 lbs. with appropriate equipment or the weight limit required according to current local labor regulations.


• Good verbal and writing communication skills, human relations, and team player


• Must be able to successfully complete Reading, Map Reading, Sorting, and math sections of the Basic Skills Test
