Job summary

Anoplate, a long-standing metal finishing company, is seeking a Chrome Plater for our 1st shift in New York. Train on customer parts, learn surface finishing, and advance into QA, environmental, or maintenance roles.

You will work with copper, zinc, gold, and nickel plating processes, read blueprints, and follow standard procedures to ensure quality. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Capable of working diligently around chemicals.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic.

• Willingness to wear PPE regularly on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• As a Chrome Plater, coat surfaces using copper, zinc, gold and nickel.
• Adjust plating equipment when necessary.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
• Follow procedures for routine chemical plate operations.
• Prepare parts for plating and handle cleaning processes.
• Inspect coated areas for defects and thickness.
• Monitor voltage and time to achieve desired coating.
• Move parts using hoists and racks.
• Operate sandblasting to clean surfaces.
• Perform on-the-job training and develop skills.

Shifts:

1st shift - 6:00am - 2:30pm Monday - Friday

Our Chrome Platers begin by learning how to prepare customer parts for the plating process. From there, your pay & career will continue to grow as you learn more surface finishing skills. There are opportunities to gain more certifications and levels or grow into quality assurance roles, environmental operations roles, on-the-job trainers, or maintenance roles. In This Role You Will:

• As a Chrome Plater, you will use a variety of chemical solutions and finishes such as copper, zinc, gold and nickel to coat the surface of customers products to change the properties of the parts and enhance their durability.
• Understands and adjusts plating equipment (ex. Rectifiers, pumps, hoists, filters, etc.) when necessary
• Reads and interprets blueprints and customer work orders (Traveler).
• Follow specific procedures to perform routine chemical plate operations on Defense, Medical and Aerospace parts.
• Fills baskets, racks, and/or barrels with parts to be coated or plated and immerse into cleaning solutions, or spray objects with conductive solutions to prepare them for plating.
• Grinds, polishes or rinses parts in water and dries parts.
• Inspect coated or plated areas for defects, such as air bubbles or uneven coverage
• Follow specific procedures to adjust voltage, monitor time, determine thickness of coating etc., in order to brush plate a variety of parts with various metal.
• Remove excess materials or impurities from objects, using air hoses or grinding machines.
• Operate hoists to place workpieces onto machine feed carriages or spindles.
• Operate sandblasting equipment to roughen and clean surfaces of workpieces.
• Plate small objects, such as nuts or bolts, using motor-driven barrels.
• Visually inspects own work for quality of product.

Requirements

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Capable of working diligently around chemicals
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic
• Ability to pass an eye exam including a color-blind test
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Willingness and commitment to wear PPE regularly, including:
  • Long sleeved chemical resistant gloves while changing chemicals
  • Safety goggles while on the shop floor
  • Chemical resistant safety aprons while working on the shop floor
  • Appropriately fitted respirator masks while changing chemicals
  • Chemical resistant gloves while changing chemicals
  • Long sleeved chemical resistant gloves while changing chemicals
  • Chemical resistant safety aprons while working on the shop floor
  • Appropriately fitted respirator masks while changing chemicals
