BBNS Academy, in partnership with the CHOSEN Scholars AmeriCorps program, seeks a full-time mentor/tutor to support students’ academic and personal growth in Illinois. You'll provide tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment activities, working closely with BBNS Academy staff to foster confidence, leadership, and school engagement.

The role offers uniforms, ongoing training, and the chance to develop professional skills and community service experience through AmeriCorps.

Education level: High school diploma or GED required.
Age range: 17–70 years old.

Job description

BBNS Academy CHOSEN Scholars AmeriCorps members serve as trusted mentors, academic support providers, and positive role models for students. Members help create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, and personally. Through tutoring, mentoring, classroom support, enrichment activities, and youth development initiatives, CHOSEN Scholars work alongside BBNS Academy staff to address student needs and encourage students to develop confidence, leadership skills, healthy relationships, and a commitment to their education. Members may provide individualized and small-group academic support, assist with homework and learning activities, encourage positive behavior and school engagement, and help connect students and families with available resources. Members also participate in activities designed to promote character development, life skills, leadership, and college and career readiness. The CHOSEN Scholars program is designed to strengthen student outcomes while providing AmeriCorps members with meaningful opportunities to develop professional skills, leadership experience, and a deeper understanding of service to their community. Members receive ongoing training, supervision, and support from BBNS Academy staff and are expected to uphold the organization's commitment to serving students with compassion, integrity, consistency, and excellence.

Member Duties :

The Full-Time AmeriCorps Mentor/Tutor will serve with BBNS Academy to support the academic, personal, and educational development of students and youth participating in BBNS Academy programs. The member will provide structured tutoring, mentoring, academic support, educational enrichment, and youth-development activities designed to help participants strengthen academic skills, develop positive learning habits, increase engagement in educational activities, and build confidence. The member will serve as a positive role model while working under the supervision of designated BBNS Academy staff. The member's service activities will support the approved goals and objectives of the BBNS Academy AmeriCorps program.
