Job summary

Join Delaware Schools Consortium is seeking a certified music teacher with specialized training in choral music to lead our choral program. This full-time position requires working in the assigned building and involves developing ensembles, coordinating rehearsals, and guiding student performers.

The role focuses on building a strong choral program, teaching core choral techniques, and arranging performance opportunities across districts and beyond.

Qualifications

• Must be a certified music teacher with specialized training or education in choral music.
• Full-time in the building assigned; EPER position can be divided for part-time employees if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide performance opportunities for ensembles at least 2 times per year outside of the school day, including at least one full group rehearsal.
• Build and maintain a successful choral program and choruses.
• Keep accurate attendance records for performances and rehearsals.
• Teach choral techniques such as blend, balance, phrasing, style, tone production, breathing and vowel formation.
• Provide opportunities for the choral program to participate in district, state, regional, and national music festivals.

Job Qualifications:

1. Must be a certified music teacher who has specialized training or education in choral music and works full-time in the building assigned. In the event of a part-time employee, EPER position can be divided among the total number of choral directors.

Essential Functions:

1. Provide performance opportunities for the ensembles a minimum of 2 per year, which must be conducted outside of the school day and will include at least one full group rehearsal prior to the performance.
2. Build and maintain a successful choral program and successful choruses.
3. Keep accurate attendance records for performances and rehearsals.
4. Teach choral techniques, including but not limited to: blend, balance, phrasing, style, good tone production and quality, proper breathing and proper vowel formation.
5. Provide opportunities for the choral program to be part of district, state, regional and national music festivals.
