Descrição da oferta de emprego

At YST Semiconductor Technology Corporation, we develop next-generation laser chips and photodiodes that power data centers, fiber networks, and AI infrastructure. Based in Vancouver, Washington, we combine deep technical expertise with a practical, hands-on approach to building precision photonics solutions. When you join our team, you’ll work in a collaborative environment where engineering excellence, reliability, and accountable execution guide how we work. We’re committed to delivering semiconductor technology our customers can depend on and following through on our promises.

About the Role

You’ll support and improve chip-test manufacturing for YST’s indium phosphide (InP)-based photonic products. Working hands-on with automated and semi-automated test systems, you’ll help improve test yield, throughput, measurement consistency, and manufacturing readiness.

With guidance from experienced engineers, you’ll collaborate with equipment engineers, Quality, Manufacturing Operations, IT/Automation, and equipment vendors to troubleshoot issues, support test-process qualification, and help introduce new products into production.

What You’ll Do
Support daily manufacturing
  • Provide engineering support for chip-test operations, monitoring yield, throughput, cycle time, retest rates, and production readiness.
  • Investigate bottlenecks, abnormal test results, and recurring production issues; support containment, root-cause analysis, and lasting corrective actions.
  • Work with technicians and operators to ensure approved procedures are clear, repeatable, and effective.
  • Analyze test results across products, lots, wafers, testers, fixtures, test programs, and other relevant variables.
  • Identify contributors to yield loss, false failures, measurement variation, and production inefficiencies.
  • Apply statistical and structured problem-solving methods, including SPC, DOE, measurement-system analysis, and root-cause analysis.
Qualify processes and support production ramp
  • Support manufacturing qualification of new or modified test equipment, fixtures, and hardware.
  • Perform tester correlation, repeatability and reproducibility studies, and manufacturing-readiness checks.
  • Support new product introduction, engineering builds, characterization, and transfer of test methods into controlled production.
Build scalable manufacturing practices
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, troubleshooting guides, qualification procedures, control plans, and training materials.
  • Improve first-pass yield, throughput, utilization, cycle time, and test cost while maintaining measurement integrity and product quality.
  • Partner with IT/Automation on automated data collection, traceability, reporting, and manufacturing systems.
  • Coordinate changes through appropriate cross-functional review and documented approval.
  • Follow cleanroom, ESD, laser, electrical, equipment, and other applicable safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Computer, Industrial, or Optical/Photonics Engineering; Physics; Applied Physics; or a directly related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to semiconductor, photonics, electronics, test, laboratory, or similarly complex manufacturing work. Relevant academic projects, internships, laboratory work, and professional experience will be considered.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including interpreting manufacturing/test data and recommending practical improvements.
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical procedures and controlled documentation with attention to data integrity and traceability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technicians, operators, engineers, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to provide hands-on, on-site support in cleanroom, laboratory, and manufacturing environments using required PPE, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, wafer/chip test, final test, photonics test, or product/test engineering.
  • Experience with automated test equipment, wafer probers, chip handlers, optical/electrical instrumentation, AOI/vision systems, fixtures, sockets, probe cards, or optical alignment.
  • Knowledge of SPC, DOE, process capability, GR&R, FMEA, 8D, or 5-Why methods.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems, databases, automated data collection, or tools such as Python, SQL, Excel, JMP, Minitab, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
  • Experience with laser-chip or photodiode testing, including LIV testing, optical power, threshold current, wavelength/spectrum, fiber coupling, or temperature-controlled measurements.
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing or production scale-up.

This position is based on-site in Vancouver, Washington, with work across cleanroom, laboratory, engineering, and manufacturing environments. The role combines computer-based analysis with hands-on equipment and test-process support. Occasional evening, weekend, or urgent production support may be required.
