Interlingva, Inc. seeks a highly capable bilingual interpreter to provide professional Chinese–English interpretation in healthcare settings.

Assignments are conducted entirely over the phone or Zoom, with flexible scheduling and regular opportunities nationwide. The interpreter must deliver accurate, confidential interpretation with fidelity to the original message, supporting a diverse range of clients while meeting medical clearance requirements as needed.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Chinese and English; interpretation with fidelity to original communication.
• Experience providing interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings.
• Ability to interpret orally between Chinese and English both directions.
• Ability to work with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Experience meeting communication needs of medical professionals, patients, and agencies.
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience.
• Willingness to obtain medical clearances and background checks as required.
• Reliable equipment and a quiet, private workspace for remote work.

Job Description

This is an independent contractor position offering flexible work schedule and ongoing opportunities. The interpreter will provide professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings. Assignments are conducted entirely through phone or Zoom and are available on a regular basis, depending on the demand for specific languages and the interpreters qualifications.

Qualifications

• Fluency in both Chinese and English
• Demonstrated experience providing accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings, with the highest level of fidelity to the original communication
• Strong ability to interpret orally between Chinese and English in both directions
• Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
• Skilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholders
• Combination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experience
• Willingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessary
• Must have a reliable phone, a laptop or desktop computer, and a stable high-speed internet connection
• Access to a quiet, private workspace to support remote assignments
