Neuens Chimney Service is seeking a Chimney Technician Apprentice in Wisconsin. This entry-level position teaches essential skills for a successful chimney and fireplace career. Qualifications

  • No chimney experience required.
  • Construction, roofing, masonry, maintenance, or mechanical experience preferred.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working at heights, including ladders and roofs.
  • Ability to lift 80+ lbs.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Certified Chimney Sweep Technicians with inspections, sweeping, and maintenance services.
  • Learn chimney and fireplace systems, components, and industry standards.
  • Assist with chimney and masonry repair projects.
  • Set up and tear down equipment, ladders, and safety systems.
  • Maintain clean jobsites and company vehicles.

Job description

Overview

Neuens Chimney Service is hiring a Chimney Technician Apprentice to learn the chimney and fireplace industry from the ground up. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are dependable, hardworking, and eager to develop into a Certified Chimney Sweep Technician. The Apprentice will work alongside experienced technicians performing chimney sweeping, inspections, maintenance, and basic repair assistance while completing a structured training path toward CSIA certification and long-term career advancement.

Service Area

Based in Northern Wisconsin, serving the Northwoods region including Oneida, Vilas, Forest, and surrounding counties. Work is primarily completed within a local daily travel radius with employees returning home each day. Occasional out-of-town travel for company-paid training and events.

Requirements
  • No chimney experience required

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Certified Chimney Sweep Technicians with inspections, sweeping, and maintenance services
  • Learn chimney and fireplace systems, components, and industry standards
  • Assist with chimney and masonry repair projects
  • Set up and tear down equipment, ladders, and safety systems
  • Maintain clean jobsites and company vehicles
  • Take photographs and document work performed
  • Learn company inspection procedures and reporting standards
  • Participate in company-sponsored training programs
  • Progress toward CSIA Certification and advancement into a Certified Chimney Sweep Technician role
Training & Advancement Path

Phase 1: Apprentice – Learn chimney systems, tools, safety procedures, and customer service standards; assist with inspections, sweeping, and repairs.

Phase 2: Technician in Training – Perform services under supervision; complete industry education and certification preparation.

Phase 3: Certified Chimney Sweep Technician – Obtain CSIA certification; independently perform inspections and sweeping services; eligible for increased compensation, bonuses, and advancement opportunities.
