Job summary

WilliamSmith Fireplaces of SC LLC is seeking a Chimney & Fireplace Sweeper to join our team in North Charleston, SC. This entry-level role focuses on chimney sweeping, inspection, and maintenance with a safety-first approach and customer service mindset.

We will provide training to support the right candidate in obtaining CSIA certification. You will work with technicians to perform cleaning, safety inspections, and minor repairs, while learning industry best practices and reporting findings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a chimney sweep, fireplace technician, or similar trade is preferred.
• Experience in a commercial construction-related role.
• CSIA Certification is a plus but not required.
• Company paid training class to help you obtain CSIA certification.
• Strong understanding of chimney and fireplace systems, venting, and safety standards.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in various weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor as required.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform chimney sweeping, cleaning, and maintenance for residential and commercial clients.
• Inspect chimneys, fireplaces, and venting systems for blockages, creosote buildup, and structural issues.
• Identify and repair minor chimney and fireplace problems, ensuring safe operation.
• Provide expert recommendations to customers regarding necessary repairs and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with fire codes and safety regulations.
• Operate tools and equipment safely, including brushes, vacuums, and cameras for inspections.
• Educate customers on chimney safety, maintenance best practices, and proper fireplace operation.
• Maintain accurate service records and provide detailed reports of findings and repairs.
• Work collaboratively with installation teams and other technicians to complete projects efficiently.
• Adhere to company safety policies and ensure a clean and professional work environment.

Schedule

• Full-time position
