Job summary

The Chanute Public Library seeks a Children’s Services Librarian to lead the Children’s Department, planning and directing programs and services for children and teens. This role works under the Library Director and collaborates with the Children’s Librarian Assistant to serve patrons from birth through young adult.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree; MLS preferred, with at least 3 years’ related experience and supervisory exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MLS preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' experience working with children's library services, children's literature and reference resources, and online searching preferred.
• Some supervisory experience required.

The Chanute Public Library is seeking a passionate individual with an interest in library services and programs for childrens and teens. Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Children’s Services Librarian performs responsible and varied administrative and professional library work related to planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the Children’s Department in coordination with the Children’s Librarian Assistant, which serves patrons ranging in age from birth through young adult.

Minimum requirements: requires a Bachelor's Degree. Masters of Library Science degree preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of education. Minimum 3 years' experience working with children's library services, children's literature and reference resoureces, and online searching preferred. Some supervisory experience necessary.
