Job summary

Nova Center for Youth and Family is seeking an Experienced Children's Outpatient Therapist in Huntsville, AL to manage a caseload of child and adolescent clients, provide individual and family therapy, and document progress in the EMR.

You will collaborate with the program team, conduct initial assessments, develop treatment plans, and participate in meetings while maintaining licensure requirements and crisis intervention as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a social sciences field with a clinical practicum or internship.
• 1 year postmasters clinical experience preferred.
• Alabama Driver's License w/ required Personal Liability Insurance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Preferred minimum of one year working with seriously emotionally disturbed children (SED).

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and/or family therapy with children and adolescent population ages 3–18.
• Collaborate with Program Manager and co-therapist on a 24/7 call basis.
• Provide crisis intervention for client and family.
• Perform initial assessments, intakes and document for EMR.
• Prepare treatment plans with client goals.
• Facilitate warm hand-off to co-therapist or care coordinator.
• Conduct CANS assessments.
• Work with care team on client needs and attend meetings as required.
• Complete billing documentation timely and accurately.
• Maintain licensure requirements and state standards.

Job Description: In the position of the Children's Outpatient Therapist in the Children's department at our Nova Center for Youth and Family, you will effectively manage a caseload by providing individual and/or family therapy to address identified mental health and/or substance use disorders by conducting client assessments, creating treatment plans, and documenting clinical progress to assist clients in their ability to effectively manage/improve their mental health and substance use disorders to gain stability and function better within the community.

What you'll be doing:

• Conduct individual and/or family therapy with children and adolescent population ages three to eighteen.
• Work with Program Manager and co-therapist to assist families on a 24/7 call basis.
• Provide crisis intervention for client and client's family when called.
• Perform initial assessments, intakes and prepare documentation of such for client's Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Prepare, with client, a treatment plan to include goals.
• Facilitate warm hand-off to co-therapist and or care coordinator.
• Conduct CANS Assessments.
• Work closely with co-therapist, care coordinator & guardians regarding client's needs.
• Participate in various meetings to include departmental, divisional, or other meetings as required by the Director, Chief Clinical Officer or Chief Executive Officer.
• Complete billing documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain educational requirements regarding licensure, Department of Mental Health State Standards.
• Perform outreach in partnership with DHR.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: What we're looking for:

• Master's degree in a social sciences field with a clinical practicum or internship.
• 1 year postmasters clinical experience preferred.
• Excellent 5 year driving record & reliable transportation.
• Valid Alabama Driver's License w/ required Personal Liability Insurance Automobile Insurance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
• Preferred minimum of one year working with seriously emotionally disturbed children (SED).
• Preferred experience with crisis
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
