Job summary

Florence County Library seeks a Library Associate – Children’s Services to provide library services to children, families, and partner organizations. You will support programs, reader’s advisory, and resources while engaging the community.

The role includes assisting with computers, catalogs, displays, and outreach activities, and participating in ongoing staff training. A Bachelor’s degree and SC driving license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree; 1-2 years of library or customer service experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge and skills.
• Proficient with computers, Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and office equipment.
• Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provides exceptional customer service to external and internal customers. Responds to and resolves patron questions or concerns.
• Plans, conducts, promotes, and evaluates library programs for children, families, and partner organizations.
• Checks materials in and out, creates and updates patron accounts, shelves materials, and assists patrons in finding materials. Provides reader’s advisory and book recommendations.
• Assists patrons with computers, online catalog, and other library equipment and resources.
• Creates displays, bulletin boards, and other activities promoting the library, literacy, and reading.
• Assists in planning and conducting community outreach activities.
• Participates in the library’s ongoing training program.
