Job summary

The Ballet Instructor at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary leads weekly ballet classes for young dancers, ages 2-12, following the Bella Ballet curriculum. The role requires preparing lessons and maintaining an engaging, safe studio environment.

You will attend trainings, assist with rehearsals and recitals, and support the Fall Festival shift while upholding center policies. A background in dance, performing or instructing, and experience with children are essential.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Ballet Instructor prepares and teaches a ballet class.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:

• Instruct weekly classes to dancers ages 2-12 depending on the class level.
• Follow Bella Ballet curriculum teaching ballet appropriate to the class level.
• Enforce Health and Recreation Center policies and procedures when necessary.
• Attend trainings and meetings throughout the semester.
• Help with Rehearsal and Recital.
• Work a shift at Fall Festival.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION:

The person in this position should have a dance background either in performing or instructing.

EXPERIENCE:

The person in this position should have experience in dance or performing arts as well as experience working with children.

SUPERVISION:

The person in this position will supervise no one.

The person in this position will report to the Ballet Coordinator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The person in this position will work in the gym which sometimes can be noisy, hot or cool.

EQUIPMENT:

The person in this position will use the following equipment: various dance equipment, speakers, microphone, and Planning Center.
