Job summary

The YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge is seeking a Childcare Director to lead daily operations for Y After School, Summer Day Camp, and related programs. You will supervise staff, develop quality programming and curriculum, and maintain positive communication with staff, parents and school partners.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a strong listener and team builder with a passion for serving youth and the YMCA mission. CPR/First Aid certification will be provided if needed.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree minimum.
• Previous experience in child care.
• CPR and First Aid certified (can be provided if needed).

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations and staff for Y After School, Summer Day Camp, and various other programs.
• Develop quality programming and curriculum; ensure positive communications with staff, parents and school administration.
• Conduct regular site visits and staff professional development.

The YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge has an immediate opening for a Childcare Director. Reporting to the Branch Executive, the Childcare Director supervises daily operations and staff for Y After School, Summer Day Camp, and various other programs. The development of quality programming/curriculum, positive communications with staff, parents and school administration, regular site visits and staff professional development is a vital part of this position’s role and helps the Y fulfill our social responsibility, of shaping the lives of our youth. The ideal candidate has a passion for impacting the lives of the youth in the community, is detail-oriented, an effective listener, a strong team builder and have a passion for serving others.

• 4-year degree minimum.
• Previous experience in child care.
• CPR and First Aid certified. (can be provided if needed)
• Computer literate and proficient in typing.
• Passionate belief in the YMCA mission and strong human relation skills.
• Ability to relate to key volunteers, staff, and program participants of varying ages.
