Job summary

The Learning Experience - Jenison in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a dependable Childcare Center Cook to prepare meals and snacks for children while keeping a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. This role emphasizes adherence to food safety and allergy considerations.

Qualifications

• Previous professional cooking, kitchen, or food preparation experience preferred.
• Experience preparing meals for children, schools, childcare programs, or group settings is a plus.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food storage practices.
• Food safety certification preferred.
• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Comfortable managing documented food allergies and dietary restrictions.
• Must meet applicable Michigan requirements for the position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to established menus and schedules.
• Follow appropriate portion sizes and meal requirements.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen.
• Properly store, label, rotate, and monitor food and supplies.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Maintain awareness of children's food allergies and dietary restrictions.
• Distribute meals and snacks to classrooms.
• Wash dishes and maintain kitchen equipment and food preparation areas.
• Monitor food and supply inventory and communicate ordering needs.
• Maintain required food service documentation.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and center leadership.
• Follow Michigan childcare, health, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
