Job summary

Mountainside Fitness in Mesa, AZ is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Childcare Attendant to help create a safe, enjoyable experience for kids and a trusted presence for parents.

You will greet families, learn each child’s name, supervise activities, monitor safety, and assist with lightweight administrative tasks, while exemplifying the Mountainside Way and supporting healthy, active lifestyles.

• Prior childcare experience required.
• Strong communication with children, parents, co-workers, and management.
• Ability to problem-solve quickly and work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Warmly greet all Members and their children upon arrival and departure.
• Introduce yourself to parents and children, learn each child’s name, and note any special precautions or needs.
• Engage actively with children through play, reading, and activities throughout the shift.
• Provide thorough tours of the childcare room to prospective Members.
• Greet all Members consistently with a friendly, sincere smile.

Key Responsibilities

Child & Member Engagement

• Warmly greet all Members and their children upon arrival and departure
• Introduce yourself to parents and children, learn each child's name, and note any special precautions or needs
• Engage actively with children through play, reading, and activities throughout the shift
• Provide thorough tours of the childcare room to prospective Members
• Greet all Members consistently with a friendly, sincere smile

Check-In & Safety

• Ensure all parents check children in upon arrival and out upon departure — no exceptions
• Accurately verify Member information against their card, re-filing each card upon completion
• Maintain the safety and well-being of all children in the facility as the top priority at all times
• Move freely and quickly throughout the childcare area to monitor and respond to children's needs

Records & Administration

• Add or update Member information in the computer system as needed, initialing every entry or change — whether in computer notes, Member cards, time sheets, or manager notes
• Distribute stickers and maintain supply inventory as part of daily operations
• Exemplify the "Mountainside Way" in all interactions and responsibilities

• Prior childcare experience required, with a solid understanding of related job duties
• Strong communication skills with children, parents, co-workers, and management
• Ability to problem-solve quickly and work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Responsible, dependable, and professional work habits
• Natural warmth, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for working with children

Requirements

• Must be 16 years or older.
• CPR Certified within 30 days of start date.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
• Must be able to move throughout the childcare facility freely and quickly for the safety of children.
• Physical exertion requirements include bending, stretching, reaching, and possibly lifting heavy children.
• Must be comfortable sitting on the floor and playing with children.
• Must demonstrate responsible, dependable, and professional work habits.
• Ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly and efficiently in both the club's and the member's best interest.
• Must be able to demonstrate good communication skills with co-workers, members, and children.
• Must exemplify the "Mountainside Way."
• Ability to smile and greet members consistently in a friendly and sincere manner.
• Experienced in childcare and understands all related job duties.
• Successfully complete the Mountainside Training program within 30 days of starting in the position.
