Job summary

The Department of Children and Family Services in Louisiana seeks a Child Welfare Supervisor for the Winn Parish Child Welfare Office in Monroe. You will supervise a Foster Care unit, monitor staff performance, ensure resource adequacy, and uphold accountability.

The role involves direct staff supervision across court work and intake activities for families and children alleged to be abused or neglected. Appointment may be probational or permanent up to 48 months, with a typical 8:00 am–4:30 pm

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in child welfare; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
• Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct line supervision to staff through supervisor conferences, case staffing, unit conferences, on-the-job training, and review of completed work assignments, etc.
• Determines work assignments, coordinates workflow and duty assignments of employees, monitors work productivity and activity to assure compliance with Agency procedures and policies.
• Provides work planning, goal setting and performance evaluations and develops corrective action plans
• Attends appropriate Agency staffings, meetings, and training/conferences in order to carry out the Agency's policies and to enhance skills development.
• Works directly with clients, professionals, and community members who are upset and need clarification about a worker's intervention or Agency intervention in general.
• Interviews potential job applicants and recommends hiring to the next supervisory level.
• Performs other duties as assigned for the smooth operation of the Department.
