Job summary

State of South Carolina Department of Social Services seeks a County Attorney I to provide professional legal services for county offices, adoptions, and licensing, including Family Court matters related to child welfare, foster care, and economic services.

You will draft pleadings, interview witnesses, assist in trials, and use the Legal Case Management System; participate in trainings and staff meetings; ensure PII protection and safeguard agency data.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Must become SC Bar member within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional legal services and representation for county offices, adoptions offices, and licensing in Family Court for child protection, foster care, adoption, and adult protection matters.
• Draft pleadings, interview witnesses, conduct hearings, and assist in trials.
• Utilize the Legal Case Management System for case documentation.
• Attend staffing, interdisciplinary meetings, trainings, and other opportunities related to child welfare and adult protective services.
• Protect personal identifying information (PII) and safeguard agency networks and data.
