Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Part-time Child Watch Attendant at the Kroc Center in Green Bay. You will nurture and supervise children during on-site programs, creating engaging activities while their guardians participate in activities.

Job description

Do you love working with kids and have a knack for keeping things fun and organized? The Kroc Center is looking for a Child Watch Attendant to provide safe, nurturing, and engaging care for children while their parents or guardians participate in Kroc programs and events. You’ll play a key role in creating a positive, energetic environment for kids, developing activities that entertain, teach, and inspire.

Flexibility is important for this role. Bilingual (English-Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Our Child Watch area is open from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm weekdays, and Saturdays from 8:00 am- noon. This position works up to 18 hours per week with a requirement to work 2 Saturdays a month. The pay rate is $16.28 per hour, with an additional $1.00 per hour shift differential paid for all shifts worked from 4:00 PM Friday through Sunday.

Summary/Primary Purpose

The Child Watch Attendant will be responsible for the nurture and supervision of all children participating in the temporary on-site care offered by the RJKCCC. The Child Watch Attendant will develop activities to entertain, teach, and mentor young children while their parents / guardians participate in Kroc programs and events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Patiently supervise multiple children.
• Communicate effectively with children and parents / guardians.
• Handle difficult situations with speed, tact and fairness.
• Maintain a high level of enthusiasm.
• Organize and execute age appropriate activities for children both individually and in groups.
• Assist in the cleaning of toys and other materials used in the Fun Depot.
• Maintain a safe environment for staff and participants.
• Able to work nights and weekends.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Uses a variety of office equipment including a computer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, printers and projection machines. Operate motor vehicles in the execution of some essential functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older and have 1 year of relevant work experience with children.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid, CPR and AED Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

For other duties of this job, such as outdoor special events and community center activities, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.
