The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Children's Services Licensing Specialist/Supervisor in Lincoln, NE to oversee the childcare background check team. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in public administration, social/behavioral sciences, healthcare, human services or related field.
• Experience in human/social services or health care agency with planning/evaluation responsibilities may substitute for education.
• Preferred: supervisory experience; ability to make/implement decisions; experience in speaking to groups of stakeholders; ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the child care background check team and cover day-to-day work during vacancies.
• Decide on policy and procedures for background checks.
• Determine eligibility of prospective child care employees per regulations.
• Ensure fingerprint-based background check renewals comply with funding requirements.
• Collect data and generate reports on employment determinations.
• Represent the department at contested ineligibility hearings.
• Interact with licensees, applicants, the public, and others regarding background check requirements via presentations, emails, and phone.
