State of West Virginia is seeking Child Protective Service Workers to protect children experiencing abuse or neglect. The role involves completing in-house training, handling active court cases, and coordinating with law enforcement. Overtime hours and frequent travel may be required.

A valid WV driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. The department offers overtime pay and a $5,000 hiring bonus for CPS/Youth Service Workers, with additional bonuses in other counties.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proficiency in maintaining detailed case records and documentation.

Responsabilités

• Attending ongoing training to develop knowledge of social welfare laws and protocols.
• Conducting investigations into allegations of abuse or neglect by interviewing and observing affected individuals and reviewing records.
• Assessing the validity of allegations and danger level to children; documenting results.
• Completing family assessments to determine dynamics and problems.
• Developing interventions to strengthen families and ensure safety, well-being and permanency.
• Preparing safety and service plans to address contributing problems and stop harmful patterns.
• Engaging families in counseling and coordinating with resources; monitoring safety and risk.
• Filing court petitions as needed, testifying in court, and arranging placements for children.
• Evaluating progress and modifying plans as needed; handling cases in Family Drug Treatment Court.
