Job summary

The Florida Department of Children and Families seeks a CHILD PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATOR SUPV-SES to oversee the Investigations/Support Unit, guiding Child Protective Investigators in protecting children and investigating reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Strong leadership and decision-making are essential for success.

The role involves coordinating with law enforcement and legal services, developing safety plans, arranging emergency placements when needed, and testifying when required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work (CSWE-accredited) or higher preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in child welfare, preferably in investigations.
• Florida Child Welfare Certification credentials (FCB)
• Must be trained in Florida's Safety Practice method

Responsibilities

• Oversee Child Protective Investigators who investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or exploitation.
• Collect information through interviews with children, families, and other parties.
• Engage families to identify needs and determine appropriate intervention level.
• Develop case plans and coordinate with Case Manager for services.
• Conduct initial and ongoing present danger assessments and safety planning.
• Arrange emergency placement when a child cannot safely remain at home.
• Coordinate with state attorney, law enforcement, and legal services; prepare reports and provide testimony in court.
• Maintain thorough documentation and referral networks with partner agencies.
