The State of Montana is seeking a Child Protection Specialist to enhance the well-being of Montana families. You will investigate child abuse, connect families to vital resources, and advocate for safe, stable environments for children.

This demanding role requires empathy, resiliency, and the ability to navigate complex social systems, including frequent travel and occasional after-hours work. Join a team dedicated to Keeping Children Safe and Families Strong.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or related field.
• Two years of social services work experience with children and families in difficult situations.

Responsabilités

• Conducts timely assessments of reports of child maltreatment using safety assessment tools and policies.
• Cares for a caseload and maintains current case file documentation.
• Collaborates with law enforcement and other welfare professionals.
• Prepares for and testifies in court and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Places children in out-of-home care when necessary and connects families to resources.
• Assesses medical and psychological needs of children throughout the case.
• Develops assessments, case plans, and monitors placements.
• Ongoing travel and in-home visits, with potential out-of-state travel.
• Occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays on a rotating on-call schedule.
