Job summary

MSD Decatur Township's Child Nutrition Department seeks substitutes to assist in preparing and serving meals to students in a friendly, timely manner. You will help maintain clean, sanitary serving areas and support daily operations during the school day.

Responsibilities include basic food prep, cashier duties, inventory, and ensuring compliance with health standards. This role aligns with school schedules and offers benefits like paid sick days and a shoe stipend.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Approved background check.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, parents, school administrators, staff, and public/private agencies.

Responsibilities

• Arranges food and beverage items in a serving line for serving to students and staff efficiently.
• Collects payments for food items from students and staff (cash, ID scan, etc.).
• Inventories food, condiments, and supplies to meet menu requirements.
• Maintains sanitary conditions in preparation, storage, and serving areas.
• Maintains stockroom by ordering and organizing supplies.
• Prepares and serves food to meet nutritional and meal requirements.
• Cross-trained as a cashier to support policies and procedures.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to the Manager.
• Supports student workers to ensure a safe, efficient workplace.
• Performs basic math, including percents and ratios.
• Other duties as assigned by Leadership.

The Child Nutrition Department of MSD of Decatur Township is looking to hire passionate individuals to help us serve the students of Decatur Township! Your role would include assisting the team in the preparation and service of quality food to students in a quick and friendly manner. Benefits and Pay Range:

• Starting wage of $13.50 per hour - $16.00 per hour

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Arranges food and beverage items in a serving line for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient manner.
• Collects payments for food items from students and staff (e.g. cash, ID scan, etc.) for the purpose of completing transactions and/or securing funds for food selection.
• Inventories food, condiments, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
• Maintains equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in a sanitary condition (e.g. cleaning and sanitizing steam tables, trays, counters, pots, pans, utensils, etc.) for the purpose of complying with current health standards and ensuring the safety of prepared foods.
• Maintains stockroom (e.g. placing food and supply orders where they belong) for the purpose of ensuring a clean and safe work area.
• Prepares and serves food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
• Cross-trained as a cashier to help maintain accurate records and comply with established policies and/or procedures.
• Reports equipment malfunctions or concerns to the Manager.
• Support student workers in their jobs for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe, and sanitary work environment.
• Perform basic math, including calculations, percents, and ratios.
• All other duties as assigned by Leadership Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Foodservice experience preferred but is not required
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Approved background check
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with students, parents, school administrators, staff, and public/private agencies
