Job summary

Carteret County Public Schools is seeking a Child Nutrition Assistant to join the Beaufort cafeteria team. The role focuses on preparing and serving nutritious meals with efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness within a school setting.

Responsibilities include quality food prep, sanitation, equipment care, inventory, and cash handling for meals. The position supports a safe, pleasant dining environment and may involve driving a school bus when required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate functional knowledge of basic principles of food cookery.
• Demonstrate functional knowledge of food service equipment.
• Ability to be mentally alert and apply knowledge applicable to the job.
• Ability to operate dishwasher, food grinder, mixer, meat slicer, range, ovens, refrigerator, and freezer.
• Ability to operate computer, register, calculator, correctly and accurately as well as make change rapidly.
• Physical ability (able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, such as walk, lift, stoop, stand, grasp, kneel, crouch, and key requiring repetitive motions.

Reports to: Child Nutrition Manager

Supervises: N/A
