Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital in Shreveport, LA, seeks a Child Life Specialist to provide evaluation, therapeutic play, preparation, procedural support, and reintegration programming in an outpatient setting. The Specialist collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, develops individualized plans, and documents patient progress in the EMR while assisting with workshops

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field.
• Certified Child Life Specialist, or be eligible to sit for the certification exam.
• Masters degree preferred.
• One year experience in a child life program.

Responsibilities

• Performs individualized assessments of patient development, temperament, coping style and medical plan to tailor care.
• Plans and implements an individualized treatment plan with goals and evidence-based strategies.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary care teams to support patient and family needs.
• Documents relevant patient information in the EMR and coordinates with workshop or event planning.
